This movie -
currently in film theatres - tells the story of soldiers
who had to spend Christmas Eve at the front line in
1914. During that night, a Scottish minister, a French
lieutenant, an German tenor and a Danish soprano are
witnessing the biggest fraternization ever between Germa,
French and British soldiers who leave their trenches
unarmed to wish each other a 'Merry Christmas'.
The music of this film has been written by Philippe
Rombi (France) who has already composed many
soundtracks, mainly for French films. It is Philippe
Rombi himself who asked Scala to take part to the
recordings of the soundtrack, after he had heard the
choir on the radio.
Scala sings the hymn 'I'm Dreaming of Home' which is the
main theme of the film, together with the soprano
Nathalie Dessay and the London Philarmonic Orchestra.
You can listen to it in one of the movie's trailers on
the internet.
The soundtrack of 'Merry Christmas' is available on CD
(Virgin 341978 2), in record shops and through the
well-known webshops. |
