Scala on the edge of its breakthrough in America ? Scala & Kolacny Brothers bring Americans to Bruges

Dear fans of Scala,
In February 2009, Scala & Kolacny Brothers performed for the very first time in the United States, at the WFMU radio station and at the Times Center in NEW YORK.
Since then, the Kolacny Brothers and their choir have been followed closely by American producers and booking agents. One year later, the choir is standing on the edge of its breakthrough in the U.S. PBS (Public Broadcasting Service – an American public TV network) has planned a Scala TV special and will make a live recording of one of Scala’s concerts which will be broadcast later on in 2010.
Initially this would take place in the US, but at the brothers’ personal request, the recordings will be done in Bruges, at the ‘Concertgebouw’ on 28th April. A production company from Miami will shoot pictures of the city of Bruges which will be edited into the TV special. The idea is to match and integrate the city’s medieval character and the modernity of the concert venue.
Production management, choreography and directing have been entrusted to a Canadian team (Juste pour Rire Festival) under supervision of Olivier Dufour whom the Kolacny brothers worked with in Montreal (see below) which earned them the prize for the ‘2009 Juste pour Rire Festival Best Act’.
The TV special will be followed (also in the US) by the world release and sales of ‘Circle’, Scala’s new album and DVD, and hopefully by Scala’s first US tour with shows in the major American cities in March or April 2011.
